The hero’s at Oakwood Fire & Rescue spend their days fighting fires and responding to emergency situations. They also use a lot of ice. “We go through Gatorade and water like no other,” exclaimed Chief Jeremy Cook with a laugh. Out of the 10 Fire Stations in Buchanan County, Oakwood stands out in ice usage. With only a small deep freezer for storage with a maximum capacity of 18 bags, it seemed they were always running out.
Jeremy went online searching for a solution and found Leer, Inc. On May 5th he got in contact with Leer, and by May 12th Leer shipped out a Slant Model 40. “The whole process was outstanding,” Jeremy said. Now Oakwood Fire & Rescue are able to keep large amounts of ice for their truck mounted-coolers so firefighters can have cold drinks available while out on calls.
